SO YOU’RE A SENIOR?

You made it!! Senior year is such an exciting year, but surprisingly, also one of the busiest. As you ensure you’re cleared to graduate, create your “last” captions for Senior Pictures on Instagram, and serve as the lead role model on campus, it can be difficult to fully decide your next steps. However, there’s no need to fear! You’ve prepared for this. Enjoy this year, but also be sure to use it as a launching pad to secure your bag.

Senior-Year “Play-Book”

APPLY FOR LAW SCHOOL

For many, senior year is the time to finally prepare those law school applications. Read more about the law school application process and all of the necessary components in the "How to Apply to Law School" blog post on the page. In the meantime, take a deep breath. Once you've hit submit on those applications, know that you’ve put in the work, and done your part. Now you can only wait and see the fruits of your labor manifested.

UTILIZE YOUR GAP YEAR

For many, senior year will be filled with grad school, job, and fellowship applications. A gap year can be useful if you'd like work experience, an "academic" break, or would like more time to study for the LSAT or GRE before applying to law school. You can also use this time to pursue an additional graduate degree (like a Masters) and decide if a JD would be useful as you pursue your career path.

STAY INVOLVED

As you may be consumed with applications and next step decisions, still maintain your involvement on campus. This is the year to allow your leadership skills to truly shine and leave a lasting impact on your peers and community. Demonstrating strong leadership skills is key for your law school application and shows that you will take initiative and be a leader within the legal profession.

REMEMBER SOMEONE IS LOOKING UP TO YOU

As those law school acceptances and job interviews begin to come in and manifest, don’t forget to help someone else get to where you are. Reach out and share resources that could be of benefit to others because there’s space for everyone at the table.
